The Grand Council of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of the ruling house and rejected the purported removal of its Chairman, Abdulateef Owoyemi, his deputy, Oladokun Ajidagba and vice chairman, Prof Fassy Yusuf.
The three leaders were reportedly removed over allegations of financial inducement, manipulation of documents and other irregularities in the selection process for the new Awujale of Ijebuland.
Owoyemi said this on Wednesday in Ijebu Ode at a Press conference to address issues surrounding the purported removal of the three principal representative members of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House for the selection of the New Awujale of Ijebuland
Its also dismissed the allegations of financial inducement against its leadership as baseless and non-existent, accusing the group behind the allegations of attempting to tarnish the image of the family’s leaders and impose its “selfish will” on the selection of the new Awujale.
The illegal and kangaroo group is led by one Adeleke Adeyemi, the self-styled Secretary; Muyiwa Adeleye, self-styled Public Relations Officer; Ridwan Oduneye (Secretary of the purported Fusengbuwa Fact-Finding committee); and Olusegun Olusoga (Chairman of the purported Fusengbuwa Fact-Finding committee), and their cohorts, namely; Taiwo Ajumo, Sikiru Adegunwa, Kehinde Lawal, Logunleko Oludare, Abdul Onalaja and Muftau Ashiru. Ordinarily, we would have maintained a dignified silence and not to dignify them with a response.
However, with the damning incredulous and scandalous allegations, silence cannot be golden, especially, when one considers the pedigree, antecedents and modest achievements in the life of the leadership of Fusengbuwa Ruling House, none of the triumvirate is less than 70 years of age.
It will therefore, be damaging to the leadership and the family and the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, if we allow the illegal and kangaroo decisions and unauthorised assemblage to rubbish the leadership and by extension, the Ruling House. In the time past, there were three (3) factions in the family.
However, when the Ogun State Government intervened, we decided to unify which subsequently led to the election of Otunba Abdulateef A. Owoyemi, as the Chairman/Olori-Ebi, Otunba Oladokun Ajidagba, as the Deputy Chairman/Igbakeji Olori-Ebi, Professor Fassy Adetokunboh Yusuf, as the vice-Chairman/Eta Olori-Ebi, Pastor Prince Jeremiah Bola Salami as the Secretary, Alhaji Adebisi Quadri as the Treasurer, and Omoba Abiodun Ogidan as the PRO.
The delegation was sent to the Ogun State Government comprised of four (4) delegates from each of the three factions.
The twelve (12) delegates were later constituted into the Management Committee whilst 3 others were later co-opted, thus the Grand Council is presently made up of 15 members. None of the impostors or usurpers is a member.
Consequently, they have no authority or power, whatsoever, to constitute any meeting nor set up any committee in any material particular.
We have thoroughly investigated the activities of these charlatans and we are convinced that they are acting out a script that if not challenged, would have a devastating effect on the family, disrupt and overturn the family’s entitlement to the Awujale throne. Apart from challenging the activities of this group, we are also individually actioning their conduct, innuendos created and the defamation in the law court.
They will surely need to pay for their indiscretions, incorrigibility and misconduct.
In addition to the foregoing, the Grand Council of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, resolved as follows:
“That the government and the general public should discountenance whatever resolution or allegation that emanates from these enemies of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
“That the Grand Council at its meeting have passed a resounding vote of confidence on its leadership,” he said.
In his remarks, Prof. Yusuff said the family remained indivisible and “all enemies of progress” within would be dealt with legally.
Responding to questions from journalists on what message the family had for the Ogun State Government on moving the process forward, Chief Fassy Adetokunboh O. Yusuf, Ph.D., Vice Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, said the government had been asked to expedite action so that the process would not linger unnecessarily.
On the selection process, he urged the state government to lift the embargo placed on it, by allowing the kingmakers to complete the exercise that would lead to the emergence of a new Awujale, in due course.(NAN).
