The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially distanced itself from Abayomi Hunye following his claim to the party’s 2027 Ogun State governorship ticket.

In an official public notice released in Abuja, APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru declared Hunye’s claim unauthorized, confirming that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (representing Ogun West) emerged as the party's legitimate candidate alongside his running mate, Balogun Kudirat Abiodun.

Senator Adeola’s nomination followed a valid primary election, and the credentials for both Adeola and Abiodun have been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, with official acknowledgment slips issued.

Hunye has been on suspension since April 2026. The disciplinary action originated from his local executives in Tube Ward (Ipokia Local Government Area), progressed through local leadership, and received formal ratification from the Ogun State Working Committee before notification to the National Secretariat.

Addressing Hunye’s court challenge against the primary outcome, the APC stated he lacks legal standing due to his ongoing suspension. The party has directed its legal department to initiate legal actions for impersonation and alerted security agencies. Members of the public are cautioned that any political or financial dealings with Hunye under the APC banner are conducted entirely at their own risk.
