Odo Bada Community and Its Environs, Olose/Ojusango Road, Ogun State, yesterday 9 April, 2026 express strong dissatisfaction over the persistent failure of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to provide stable electricity supply to our community, despite continued billing of residents.
For several months, residents and business owners within our community have endured prolonged outages, erratic power supply, and near-total service failure. Despite this, IBEDC continues to issue electricity bills—largely based on estimated billing—even during periods where no electricity was supplied.
This situation is unacceptable and constitutes a violation of consumer rights as provided under the regulations of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), including the Customer Protection Regulations (2023), the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) Regulations (2018), and the Capping of Estimated Billing Regulation (2020).
It is particularly concerning that many households within our community remain unmetered, thereby exposing them to arbitrary and exploitative billing practices, contrary to NERC directives.

In view of the above, we call on IBEDC to immediately:
- Stop billing residents for electricity not supplied from November 2025 to date;
- Review and adjust all affected bills to reflect actual consumption;
- Urgently provide prepaid meters to all unmetered households;
- Restore stable and consistent electricity supply to our community.
We also call on the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene and ensure compliance with existing regulations.
Failure by IBEDC to take immediate corrective action will leave our community with no option but to escalate this matter through formal petitions, peaceful protests, and all lawful means available.
We remain law-abiding but will not continue to tolerate exploitation and poor service delivery.
