The Federal Government has released a list of 48 individuals and organisations allegedly involved in financing terrorism across the country, in a renewed effort to clamp down on illicit funding networks.
These was published on Saturday by the Nigeria Sanctions Committee (NIGSAC), identifies persons and entities suspected of supporting or facilitating terrorism-related activities.
According to the committee, those named are believed to have links with designated terrorist groups operating within and beyond Nigeria, including the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ansaru, and the Islamic State West Africa Province.
The publication of the sanctions list forms part of Nigeria’s broader counter-terrorism strategy aimed at disrupting financial channels that sustain extremist operations. Individuals and organisations on the list may face asset freezes, financial restrictions, and other legal consequences in line with existing anti-terrorism regulations.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to strengthening surveillance of financial systems and enhancing collaboration with local and international partners to combat terrorism financing.
The government also urged financial institutions and the general public to remain vigilant and report suspicious transactions, noting that collective efforts are critical to safeguarding national security.
