The development comes after the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue elective office.
Presidential sources indicate that the nomination is part of ongoing efforts to reposition the power sector and sustain reform momentum.
Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is described as a fiscal and economic reform expert with over 35 years of experience across both public and private sectors.
He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led initiatives in fiscal policy reform, governance, and institutional transformation.
He has also advised government institutions and private organisations on regulatory frameworks, investment structuring, and strategic reforms.
Currently, he serves as Director-General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), where he oversees engagements aimed at strengthening development cooperation between Nigeria and China.
According to the State House, Tegbe has been involved in key reform initiatives within Nigeria’s power sector, including engagements with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET).
His experience is expected to support ongoing efforts to improve grid stability, enhance regulatory efficiency, and attract sustainable investment into the sector.
The Presidency noted that the nomination aligns with the administration’s broader reform agenda, with expectations that Tegbe will drive measurable improvements in electricity supply and sector performance.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that, upon confirmation, the minister-designate will leverage his expertise to advance critical reforms and deliver better outcomes for Nigerians.
