The campaign organisation of Senator (Prof.) Iyabo Obasanjo has condemned what it described as provocative and disruptive conduct allegedly targeted at the aspirant during the recently concluded National Convention of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja.

In a statement issued on March 31, 2026, the campaign raised concerns over a viral video showing scenes of what it termed coordinated provocation by some individuals at the event.

According to the statement, the footage captured individuals chanting derogatory songs and using loud talking drums around the aspirant, actions the campaign said fall short of the decorum expected at a major political gathering.

The campaign described the development as troubling, noting that such conduct undermines the principles of unity, maturity, and mutual respect expected among political stakeholders.

“We find such actions deeply concerning, particularly in a setting that demands unity, maturity and mutual respect among leaders and aspirants,” the statement read.

While refraining from making direct accusations, the campaign pointed to what it described as the “visible proximity and apparent inaction” of certain figures, raising concerns about leadership responsibility and the tone of political engagement within the state.

The organisation reiterated its commitment to peaceful and issue-based politics, stressing that its approach remains rooted in democratic values.

“Our campaign is firmly rooted in dignity, discipline and democratic values. We reject all forms of political intimidation, provocation and hostility,” the statement added.

The campaign also commended its supporters for their restraint despite the incident and urged them to remain calm and law-abiding.

“Under no circumstances should anyone respond with negativity, abuse or retaliation,” it stated.

Reaffirming its focus, the organisation emphasized that its political engagement would remain centered on policies, development, and the overall progress of Ogun State, rather than distractions.

The statement concluded with a pledge to remain resolute in pursuing its vision for the state, calling for a more civil and respectful political environment.

The statement was signed by the Director of Media and Communications of the Iyabo Obasanjo Campaign Organisation
