Some members of the National Assembly – the nation’s bicameral legislature, made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives – have spent multiple terms culminating in over 20 years at the hallowed chambers.
Interestingly, some of them have been in the parliament since 1999.
Several members have been in either the House or the Senate or both since 2003 and have spent more than 20 years
These members belong to the ruling All Progressives Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party. Some of them have also switched parties as part of moves to get re-elected.
Observers believe that these serial returning members possess legislative experience and the institutional memory of parliamentary norms and processes parties as part of moves to get re-elected.

1. Sen. Ahmad Lawan – Ahmad Lawan has been in the National Assembly since 1999
2. Hon. Nicholas Mutu – Representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in Delta State, Nicholas Mutu has been in the House since 1999.
3. Sen. Ali Ndume – Since 2003, Ali Ndume has been in the National Assembly.
4. Hon. Alhassan Doguwa – He was a member of the House in the botched Third Republic and returned to the parliament in the Fourth Republic to represent Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in Kano State in 2007
5. Sen. Mohammed Monguno – Mohammed Monguno currently represents Marte/Monguno/Nganzai federal constituency in Borno State. Monguno was first elected member of the House in the Third Republic (1992/93).
6. Hon. Khadijat Bukar Abba-Ibrahim – Khadijat, the wife of former Yobe State governor, Bukar Abba-Ibrahim, has been in the House since 2007, representing Damaturu/Gujba/Gulani/Tarmuwa Federal Constituency in Yobe State.

9. Hon. Muktar Betara – Another member of the 2007 set is Mukhtar Betara, who represents Biu/Bayo/Shani Federal Constituency in Borno State
10. Hon. Wole Oke – He represents the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State. He was first elected to the lower chamber in 2003 on the PDP platform.
11. Sen. Adamu Aliero – Adamu Aliero became a Senator in 2007 on the PDP ticket after serving as governor of Kebbi State for eight years, between 1999 and 2007 on the platform of the defunct ANPP.
12. Sen. Adeola Olamilekan – Olamilekan is the Senator representing Ogun West. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2011 to represent Alimosho Federal Constituency of Lagos State on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
13. Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal – Tambuwal represents Sokoto South Senatorial District in the National Assembly. He served in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2015, representing the Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency of Sokoto State.
14. Sen. Danjuma Goje – The Gombe Central senator was elected to the Senate at the expiration of his second tenure as governor in 2011.
15. Sen. Ibrahim Gobir – Gobir is a fourth-term Senator representing Sokoto East who has spent about 15 years in the Red Chamber. He was first elected in 2011.
16. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen – He is the present Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, represents the Zaria Federal Constituency in Kaduna State having been first elected in 2011.
17. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke – The lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives has been in the House of Representatives since 2011.
