The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has commenced a statewide electronic registration and re-registration of members as part of a strategic mobilisation effort aimed at expanding the party’s membership base, strengthening internal cohesion, and preparing for future political engagements.

The exercise was officially flagged off on Tuesday by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who described the initiative as a significant opportunity for party members and supporters to reaffirm their commitment to the APC, which he noted remains the largest and most successful political party in Africa.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun said the e-registration process would enable new members to join the party seamlessly while providing a credible, transparent, and technology-driven membership database. He explained that the initiative would eliminate manipulation and fraudulent practices, enhance data accuracy, and align the party’s operations with global best practices.

The Governor called on party leaders, stakeholders, and members at all levels to mobilise supporters across the state to ensure widespread participation in the exercise.

“This is a collective responsibility. Party leaders, ward executives, and field officers must work together to deliver a seamless, inclusive, and hitch-free registration process. The era of fake or inflated membership figures is over,” he said.

In his remarks, the Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, urged party faithful to view the exercise as a unifying and strengthening process rather than a personal or transactional venture.

“This registration exercise is not about individual gain; it is about consolidating our strength as a party and positioning the APC for sustained leadership and electoral success,” Sanusi stated.

He further called on party leaders across the 236 wards of the state to provide full support for the exercise, assuring members that additional registration centres and operators would be deployed where necessary to accommodate all prospective members within the limited timeframe.

Chief Sanusi emphasised that no genuine supporter or intending member of the APC would be excluded from the process.

The flag-off ceremony featured the electronic registration of key party leaders, including the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Toyin Taiwo, underscoring the leadership’s commitment to the initiative.

Party members and supporters have been encouraged to participate actively and mobilise others, as the APC continues efforts to build a stronger, more inclusive, and forward-looking political family in Ogun State.
