Yesterday, a fatal road accident involving a gas truck and a motorcycle occurred on Sunday night at the Arigbabu Roundabout, resulting in the death of one person and severe injuries to another.
Milestones Beats correspondent, Oluwafunmilayo Adekunle, who arrived at the scene about 30 minutes after the incident, observed the remains of a gas truck that had crashed into a motorcycle at the roundabout. One of the motorcycle occupants was confirmed dead at the scene, while the other sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the General Hospital at approximately 9:30 p.m. for urgent medical attention.
Speaking at the scene, an eyewitness who requested anonymity said the gas truck ran into the motorcycle while both were navigating the roundabout.
“The truck hit the motorcycle at the roundabout. One person was badly injured, while the other caught fire. The truck driver managed to escape from the vehicle,” the eyewitness said.
According to the witness, a security man guarding Choice phone call the fire service who put out the fire with fire extinguisher and water in an effort to rescue the victims, an ambulance eventually arrives to convey the dead to the mortuary with intervention of good Samaritans.
One passerby reportedly provided a fire .
Sadly, one of them was confirmed dead on the spot, despite the efforts to save them, the demise body was rescued and laid at the other side of the road and later convened to the mortuary by an Ambulance.
The cause of the accident has not yet been officially determined.
