The Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), a political support group backing the governorship ambition of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has announced plans for its official inauguration and a statewide mobilisation drive ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ogun State.
The announcement was made during a press briefing by the State Coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, who described the movement as a grassroots-driven structure aimed at strengthening support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates across the state.
According to Kaka, the inauguration is scheduled for May 3, 2026, and will bring together political stakeholders, youth groups, community mobilisers and party loyalists from across Ogun State. He noted that the movement is designed as a “disciplined and result-oriented force” to drive coordinated political engagement and voter mobilisation.
Kaka added that the group operates under the leadership of its convener, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, alongside other key political figures, with a structure aimed at ensuring effective grassroots coordination ahead of the next election cycle.
The movement reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aligning itself with his administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and commending ongoing economic reforms. It also praised Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for infrastructural development, industrial growth and fiscal management in the state.
YPM further acknowledged the contributions of elder statesman and former governor, Olusegun Osoba, for sustaining progressive politics in Ogun.
Reiterating its political objective, the group declared full support for Adeola’s emergence as the next governor of Ogun State, citing his legislative experience and grassroots appeal as key strengths.
As part of activities marking the inauguration, YPM disclosed plans to commission campaign buses and deploy mobilisation structures across the state. It also announced that loyal members and supporters would be recognised and empowered, while patrons and matrons would be formally decorated.
The movement unveiled members of its leadership team, including Hon. Segun Kaka as State Coordinator, Hon. Olanrewaju Lookman Yakubu as Deputy State Coordinator, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye and Pa Olayiwola Olutunji as Apex Leaders, Hon. Anthony Ayodele as Apex Member, Mr. Olatunji Olojede as Secretary, Mrs. Keji Oduneye as Women Leader, Sheik Ahmed as State Youth Coordinator, and Comrade Akilo Akeem as Public Relations Officer.
