The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that the party will only adopt a consensus candidate for the 2027 elections if all aspirants willingly agree to the arrangement.
Speaking on the party’s nomination process, the chairman stressed that consensus candidacy cannot be imposed on contenders but must emerge through mutual understanding and voluntary withdrawal by all aspirants involved.
According to him, any move to present a consensus flagbearer must be backed by the full consent of everyone seeking the party’s ticket, ensuring fairness and internal democracy within the APC.
The chairman reiterated that the process is designed to maintain unity within the party while respecting the ambitions and rights of individual aspirants.
