A section of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation complex in Abuja was on Tuesday morning engulfed by fire, causing panic among staff and prompting an emergency response.
Eyewitnesses said the fire was first noticed at about 8:20 a.m., when thick smoke began billowing from one part of the building.
The incident reportedly occurred in Section C of the complex housing the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. Staff members were seen hurriedly evacuating the affected area as emergency responders were alerted to contain the blaze.
Officials from the media department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed the incident, noting that the fire outbreak was confined to Section C of the building.
According to the office, emergency officials were promptly mobilised to the scene and were working to bring the situation under control.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not been determined, and authorities are expected to commence a full investigation after the fire is completely extinguished.
There were no immediate reports of casualties, while further updates are expected as emergency operations continue.
