Senator Adeola Olamikan, Yayi on Tuesday, February 11, 2026, paid a condolence visit to the Onabanjo family following the passing of the wife of the first civilian governor of Ogun State.
The Senator and his delegation were warmly received by members of the family, represented by Hon. Bukky Onabanjo. Also present to receive him were the Executive Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Dare Alebiosu; the Vice Chairman, Hon. Titilayo Adeyemi; and the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Abiodun Oke.
The visit drew the presence of several dignitaries from Ijebu-Ode and Odogbolu Local Government Areas. Among those in attendance were Alhaji Sarumi, former Chairman and GAEC member; Hon. Waheed Otun; Hon. Dr. Samuel Adejare; Hon. Olaseni Koiki; Otunba Olugbile (BHO); Otunba WESCO; Hon. Barr. Siwoniku; Hon. Olufunmilayo; Hon. Ireti Adenugba; Hon. Kuburat Arigbabu; Hon. Fisayo Arije, among others.
In his remarks, Senator Yayi apologized for arriving late, attributing the delay to prior official engagements. He noted that it was “better late than never” and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, emphasized the importance of unity, faith, and resilience in moments of grief. He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed soul, strength for the family to bear the irreplaceable loss and encouraging the family to find solace in cherished memories and the lasting legacies she left behind.
In response, Hon. Bukky Onabanjo who represented the Onabanjo family expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the visit and the overwhelming show of love and support.
She also expressed deep appreciation for the dignitaries and party members who waited until the late hour to receive him, stating that he was overwhelmed by the large turnout and grateful for their unwavering support.
Responding on behalf of the family, Hon. Bukky Onabanjo described her mother’s passing as divinely ordained. She reflected on her mother’s remarkable longevity, noting that in over 70 years of her life, she was hospitalized only twice, with the second marking her peaceful transition at the age of 100.
She thanked Senator Olamikan Yayi for the visit despite his tight schedule and expressed appreciation to all dignitaries and supporters who stood by the family during this period of mourning
