The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council led by it's Chairman, Comrade Akinwale OLANREWAJU, is set to host the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, SP Babaseyi Oluseyi, and the Divisional Police Officer of Ibara, CSP Lateef Balogun, at its upcoming Monthly Congress.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 3pm, taking place at the Olusegun Osoba Hall, Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.

This high-profile visit serves as a formal familiarization exercise aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between the Ogun State Police Command and the media.

Recognizing the Police as a vital partner in public safety and journalists as the "Fourth Estate of the Realm," the NUJ leadership views this engagement as a crucial step toward fostering mutual respect and enhancing the existing synergy between both institutions.

Beyond the formal introduction, the session will feature a guest appearance by SP Babaseyi Oluseyi.

The PPRO is expected to address the congress on the critical and evolving challenges of Cybercrime and Cyberbullying.

As the digital landscape continues to change the way information is disseminated, this interaction will provide journalists with firsthand insights into the legal frameworks governing digital communication in Nigeria.

The Council emphasizes that in an era of rapid digital transition, it is essential for media practitioners to understand the legal boundaries of their profession.

By discussing these emerging legal issues, the Ogun NUJ aims to equip its members with the knowledge necessary to avoid professional pitfalls and ensure responsible reportage while discharging their duties to the public.

The leadership of the Ogun NUJ led by Comrade Akin wale OLANREWAJU looks forward to a productive session at the "Iwe-Iroyin" House, marking a new chapter of cooperation with the State Command.

This initiative underscores the Union's commitment to professional development and the safety of its members, ensuring that the relationship between the police and the press remains robust, transparent, and effective.
