Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief (Mrs.) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo, wife of the revered former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, at their residence in Ijebu-Ode, to commiserate with them and personally share in their moment of grief.
Mama Lucia, who passed on at the age of 101, was described by the Governor as a woman whose death marks the end of a truly glorious era. He noted that she lived an exemplary, fulfilled, and distinguished life devoted to God, family, and service to humanity.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Abiodun said Mama Lucia stood firmly by her husband throughout his historic struggles for democracy, human rights, and social justice, serving as a constant source of strength, prayer, and encouragement not only to her family but to many others who came in contact with her.
The Governor acknowledged that the loss of a mother is always deeply painful, regardless of age, but urged the family to find comfort in celebrating her long, impactful journey and the enduring legacy of love, faith, and commitment to progress that she leaves behind.
Governor Abiodun extended heartfelt condolences to the entire Onabanjo family, while thanking God for the gift of Mama Lucia’s life. He said she would be greatly missed for her warmth, wise counsel, and prayers, and prayed that the Almighty God grant her eternal rest and give her family, friends, and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
